New to Camping?
Camping isn’t just for the pros. The DEC’s First-Time Camper Weekend Program makes it easy to get started. During select weekends at select sites, new campers are given everything they need–including a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, and even firewood. Camping Ambassadors are there to help set everything up and walk you through the basics, so campers can feel comfortable right away. Throughout the weekend, you can also try activities like hiking, fishing, and paddling, all while staying at a campground with bathrooms and hot showers nearby.
