PTNY Welcomes a New Parks Program Director

Parks & Trails New York is proud to welcome Will Coté as our new Parks Program Director. Will has enthusiastically jumped into his new role, helping to organize the upcoming Park Advocacy Day on Monday, March 2, and the 9th annual I Love My Park Day on Saturday, May 2. Will even presented testimony at a legislative budget hearing within his first two weeks!

A native of the Capital Region, Will grew up spending a lot of time with his family exploring the natural beauty of New York. Formerly the Food Access Manager of Capital Roots in Troy, NY, Will has also worked as a community center director and public school teacher. Will has over 10 years of experience in community-based, non-profit program management, ranging from at-risk youth programming and food equity initiatives to active transportation policy and green space development.

Will previously had the opportunity to work with PTNY to implement a handful of “pop-up” alternative transportation projects in the area, which is what piqued his interest in our mission. “I enjoy work that enhances the livability of our communities. PTNY’s commitment and success in preserving and enriching the natural resources in our state - at both the grassroots and state level - is really inspiring,” he said.

In his spare time Will enjoys traveling. He has visited over 20 countries and numerous national parks around the world. “I love to get immersed in other cultures and explore wild places. Hiking through Patagonia is one of my most cherished memories. I strongly recommend it!”

In addition to traveling, he also enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and watching nerdy movies.

Keep an eye out for Will at our upcoming events and be sure to introduce yourself. Also, be sure to let him know your favorite hiking locations. If you would like to connect with Will, give him a call directly at (518) 456-1583 or send him an email at wcote@ptny.org.
