New Year, New Opportunities for Advocacy

In January, the New York State legislature returns. Soon after PTNY will return to the halls of the Capitol to call for policies and funding that grow and protect New York’s great outdoor spaces. If you care about parks and trails, please join us for Active Transportation and/or Park Advocacy Days!

Active Transportation Advocacy Day
February 2, 2016

Join New Yorkers for Active Transportation (NY4AT) in Albany to encourage lawmakers to support Complete Streets, community multi‐use trails, and safer and increased levels of bicycling and walking across the State. NY4AT is a coalition of Parks & Trails New York (PTNY), the New York Bicycling Coalition (NYBC), Tri-State Transportation Campaign (TSTC) and other bicycle-pedestrian advocates.

Register here for Active Transportation Advocacy Day.

Park Advocacy Day
Februrary 29, 2016

Join Parks & Trails New York and the Alliance for New York State Parks at our 10th annual Park Advocacy Day on Monday, February 29 in Albany and help send a message of support for New York’s 215 state parks and historic sites.

Register today.

Park supporters from throughout the Empire State will meet with state legislators to stress the importance of supporting funding for state parks, particularly another round of Parks 2020 funding for capital needs at state parks and historic sites and continued funding for the Park and Trail Partnership Program, a new capacity-building grants program for grassroots Friends groups. Your efforts will have a lasting impact on legislators as they make important decisions about parks. For the last four years, these efforts were critical to ensuring parks received an historic infusion of capital funding. Join us this year to keep the momentum for parks going!
