Parks & Trails New York has released a new edition of its best-selling Cycling the Erie Canal (CTEC) guidebook. The new guidebook features updated trail maps, revised lists of trailside attractions and lodging, and new navigation aids, while maintaining an easy-to-use format. Like previous editions, the new CTEC guidebook is organized around 42 full-color maps and corresponding content pages, allowing cyclists and other trail visitors to easily find their way along the 360-mile Canalway Trail corridor. The new edition is spiral bound, and designed to easily fit in a handlebar bag or glove compartment.

All maps have been updated with new trail segments, and on-road routings have been modified where necessary after consultation with local planners and cyclists. High resolution photos from across the Canal Corridor highlight the variety of attractions one can find in Canal communities, lists of which have been completely revised. Likewise, the lodgings, bike shops, and festival listings have been updated. Feedback from End-to-End cyclists and users of previous editions has resulted in new features, including five new inset maps to guide trail users through complicated stretches. Users of the fourth edition will also benefit from new trip-planning tools and downloadable GPS routes on the soon-to-be-released CycletheErieCanal.com, and an enhanced Erie Canalway Trail interactive map.
