    Park Advocacy Day

    Park Advocacy Day is an annual advocacy event hosted by Parks & Trails New York and the Open Space Institute. In 2025, we will have the "green scarf brigade" in Albany on February 25, to continue to give our parks a voice and interact with the state’s decision makers on a personal level.

    Canal Clean Sweep

    Each year, in commemoration of Earth Day, members of the public, community organizations, and local groups join together to participate in Canal Clean Sweep to prepare the Canalway System for the recreation season by cleaning up debris and undertaking various beautification projects.


    I Love My Park Day

    Parks & Trails New York organizes I Love My Park Day, in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, to celebrate, improve, and enhance state parks, historic sites, and public lands. I Love My Park Day boosts volunteerism and raises the visibility of the entire state parks system and its needs.

    Cycle the Erie Canal

    More than 650 cyclists will leave their cars behind to pedal along the historic Erie Canalway Trail to Albany. Along the 400-mile journey, cyclists will enjoy some of the finest scenery, most interesting history, and unparalleled cycling in the northeastern United States.

    Cycle the Hudson Valley

    Cycle the Hudson Valley is a 5-day, 200-mile bicycle tour from Albany to NYC following the Hudson River section of the Empire State Trail.

    Statewide Greenways Conference 2025

    Parks & Trails New York is hosting New York’s first Statewide Greenways Conference in nearly twenty years in Kingston, New York on October 15-17, 2025. This high-impact event will convene a diverse trail and outdoor community to learn, build relationships, and find solutions to the challenges of developing and maintaining, and enhancing greenway trails in every corner of the state. This conference is an exciting gathering of trail and outdoor recreation enthusiasts and professionals representing all corners of the public and private sectors with a stake in multi-use trails, economic development, livable communities, and the outdoor recreation industry.
