Lown Memorial Garden -- College Hill Park in the City of Poughkeepsie

The Lown Memorial Garden is a wonderful historic rock garden on the east side of College Hill Park in the City of Poughkeepsie. In 2013 a portion of the garden was restored as a beautiful pollinator garden. Join the Revive College Hill Park Coalition, the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and the Environmental Cooperative on May 4th, as we complete the restoration of this Local Historic Landmark.

We will be working with SCA to reset the unique and historic rocks that are located in the garden, remove invasive species and prepare the flower beds for planting in June. Raindate is May 5th.

Leslie Sutherland Park

Leslie Sutherland Park is an historic park atop an 8-acre forest on a steep hill, known for its sweeping views of the Hudson, the Palisades and south to Manhattan. It's also SW Yonkers' only urban forest, with trails winding through trees, bushes and flowers. It's also a fascinating historic site - in 1902, a massive luxury hotel was built at the top of the park, only to burn down a few months before it was supposed to open. Some of the ruins are still there.

We will be working with the Park Hill Residents Association to pick up litter, plant and clear trails, between 10 A.M and 2 P.M.
