George “Chip” Gorman

Chip Gorman has been a devoted public servant for nearly 50 years, originally joining State Parks in 1977 as a park and recreation aide at Jones Beach State Park. Chip has championed and supported Friends groups on Long Island, and his dedicated work has seen a rejuvenation for LI State Parks.

About the George W. Perkins Award

The George W. Perkins Award was established by Parks & Trails New York to honor outstanding environmental leadership and public service. The award is named in honor of George W. Perkins, a long-time member and president of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, and model of the best in conservation leadership.
