Syracuse to Little Falls
If you are stopping in Syracuse, the Erie Canal Museum is a great place to learn more about the Canal’s history. East of Syracuse, there are several state parks which are great places to enjoy a host of recreating activities like swimming, boating, camping, hiking, and fishing. With the Adirondack Mountains to the north and the Catskill Mountains to the south, this area is one of the most scenic regions along the trail. About halfway from Syracuse to Little Falls is Rome, the home of Fort Stanwix, a 1777 fort where guides dressed in Revolutionary War area attire tell stories of life in that era of American history.
