give back to public lands

Join us in honoring and caring for the wild places we all share during Adirondack & Catskill Park Day, held on the first Saturday of September. Across New York, volunteers gather for trail cleanups, forest preserve work, campsite maintenance, education, and habitat restoration–all focused on strengthening and protecting over 6.5 million acres of public lands.

This event is part of the broader Love Our New York Lands campaign, coordinated with the New York State Office of Parks Recreation & Historic Preservation and the Department of Environmental Conservation, that encourages visitors to follow Leave No Trace principles, act as stewards of the landscape, and volunteer at park events like I Love My Park Day, Canal Clean Sweep, and more.

Come roll up your sleeves, give back, and be part of a community that cares deeply about the health and future of New York’s forests, trails, and shared open spaces. Stay tuned for 2026 dates!

Why Volunteering Matters

Your time and effort help maintain trails, restore habitats, clear invasive species, and keep campsites clean and safe for everyone. These hands-on projects improve the health of forests, protect wildlife, and preserve the natural beauty that makes the Adirondacks and Catskills special.
