Park and trail supporters from across New York came together in Albany for Park & Public Lands Advocacy Day to speak up for the places that bring our communities together and keep New Yorkers active outdoors. The day was filled with inspiration, connection, and meaningful conversations with lawmakers, and it’s already helping shape the budget conversation in Albany.
Watch the Morning Program
We kicked off Advocacy Day with a dynamic morning program featuring park champions, partners, and policy experts who set the stage for the day’s advocacy. If you weren’t able to join us live, you can still catch the full conversation and hear the insights that helped prepare advocates for their meetings with lawmakers.
Advocacy That’s Already Making an Impact
Just days after Advocacy Day, the New York State Senate and Assembly released their one-house budget proposals—and both included encouraging support for priorities championed by Parks & Trails New York and our partners. It’s a strong reminder that when advocates speak up, lawmakers listen. While the final budget is still being negotiated, these proposals show real momentum for investing in the parks, trails, and public lands that New Yorkers value.
