ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Supporters of the state parks system plan to send 4,000 post cards to Gov. David Paterson to call for a $100 million investment in capital funding in 2009.

Parks & Trails New York, Audubon New York, Scenic Hudson, and other environmental organizations say the parks need the infrastructure work, and they provide major economic benefits, especially with state residents spending their money and staying closer to home.

The nonprofit Parks & Trails New York claims more than 5,000 members and supporters.
