Imagine going out your front door and within a few minutes being on a trail that leads through your community. You pass shops and restaurants on your way to work, school, or a local park. By taking a turn and going farther, you might follow the trail into the countryside, or link with another trial that extends along a river to the next town, or into the mountains, or all the way across the state.
This vision is driving a groundswell of community trail building throughout New York State. There are already have more than 800 miles of multi-use community trails where you can bike, walk, run, cross country ski, and sometimes also ride horses or snowmobiles. And just as many miles of trail are planned.
To help you enjoy this vast resource of community trails, Parks & Trails New York has developed Trail Finder Maps. Trail Finder Maps are designed to get you outside and moving. Included are all kinds of multi-use trails in every region of the state open to the public -- greenways, rail trails, canal trails, bikeways, riverwalks. HAVE FUN.
