Join a park naturalist on a guided nature walk one mile up the Gorge Trail to explore the origins and history of the gorge. Meet at the end of the parking lot in the main entrance of the park off of Franklin St. / NYS Route 14.

Retired local teacher Richard "Burt" Burtless will be giving walking tours on an asked for basis. The tours are free and commence at the Heritage Area Visitor Center. Burt takes folks along the barge portion and explains how in 1913-1915 NY State decided to canalize the waterway and flooded the original community know as the Flats with 5 million gallons of water to be able to use the new number 2 and 3 locks. Burt also takes folks along to the Women's Rights National Historical Park where the first women's rights convention was held, along to the National Women's Hall of Fame, The First Presbyterian Church where Alice Paul introduced the Equal Rights Amendment and other sites along the village.

On a self-guided tour, visitors learn about farming and family in the Finger Lakes region during the early 1800s. Visitors will explore the innovative farming techniques used on the farm and the dramatic changes in women’s roles and education during a time when family farms became family businesses.

On a guided tour of this National Historic Landmark, visitors learn about the prominent Swan family who lived in the house for forty years and used innovative methods to farm the land.
