7th Annual
Park Advocacy Day
March 5, 2013

Parks & Trails New York and the Alliance for New York State Parks hosted the 7th Annual Park Advocacy Day in Albany on Tuesday, March 5 and sent a message of support for New York’s 214 state parks and historic sites.

Park Advocacy Day

More than 50 park supporters from throughout the state met with policymakers to stress the importance of supporting Governor Cuomo’s budget proposal for parks, particularly the $90 million slated for capital needs at state parks and historic sites. Last year, these efforts had a lasting impact on legislators - the final enacted budget included critical capital funding.

Park Advocacy Day
Assemblyman Kevin Cahill and Senator Mark Grisanti, sponsors of Pennies for Parks legislation, address park supporters.

Participating in Park Advocacy Day is meaningful, fun, and most of all, easy! As a Park Advocacy Day participant, you are assigned to a team with fellow state parks supporters who will join you in meetings with policymakers throughout the day. There is no cost to participate, but registration is required.
