State grants available for trails
Deadline December 5

The 2009 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant applications, instructions, rating criteria, and workshop schedule are now available on the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation's (OPRHP's) website.

RTP is a State-administered, Federal assistance program to provide and maintain recreational trails for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail use.  Allowable costs include professional services, labor, equipment, supplies, materials and real property related to trail maintenance, development or acquisition. For 2009, the minimum grant award is $5,000 and the maximum grant award is $200,000.  Non-profit organizations, municipal, state and federal agencies, Indian tribal governments and other public agencies and authorities may apply for up to 80% of project costs.

Workshops are being held to provide important information to help you with the grant application. The first workshop is October 21. The last is October 30. All applications must be postmarked or received in an OPRHP Regional Office by December 5, 2008
