Parks Advocacy Day-March 4
This year’s proposed Executive state budget includes much needed good news for our magnificent but under-funded state parks. With proposed funding of over $100 million for capital projects throughout the state park system there is good reason to be excited, but we cannot count on this level of funding until it is included as part of the enacted state budget.
That's why Parks & Trails New York is organizing a parks advocacy day in Albany on March 4, 2008. We have meetings scheduled with key Senators and Assembly members, and we will have a full day of legislative visits running from 10:00am to 3:30pm.
Please join us and help secure this vital funding for our state's parks.

Trails Advocacy Day-March 18
Two important pieces of legislation can have a profound impact on the future of trails and trail organizations in New York.
1) Grants for park and trail groups. $500,000 from the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) is slated for grants to strengthen not-for-profit park and trail organizations! These grants will go a long way toward enhancing groups’ vitality and sustainability and help ensure the success of the many projects they undertake.
2) Community Trails Initiative Bill. S02324 Rath/A9317 DelMonte will establish a taskforce to develop a plan for a comprehensive statewide, interconnected system of multi-use trails that will reap significant health, environmental, economic and quality of life benefits for all New Yorkers.
We need your support to ensure that the Legislature votes to fully fund the EPF, the grant program remains in the final budget, and the Community Trails Initiative bill makes it to the floor of the Assembly and Senate and is passed.
We've organized a Trails Advocacy Day in Albany on March 18, 2008. We have a full day of meetings scheduled with key Senators & Assembly members from 10:00am to 3:30pm.
